Making the leap into brokering was a big, scary decision, but one I knew would be worth it once I found the right company to partner with.

At 18, I took financial advice on personal matters and, in short, I got played. Back then, I had little financial knowledge, and through that tough lesson, I made it my mission to not only understand the finance sector but to help others navigate it too.

When choosing the right firm, I wanted one that would continue to support and educate me. But more importantly, I needed a company that shared my values- one that would always do the right thing for the client, through hard work, research, and transparent relationships. 

I spent a long time speaking with several firms, but when I spoke with Key, I knew I had found my match. Key goes above and beyond, supporting clients transparently, efficiently, and ethically. The knowledge within the team is invaluable. Above all, the support from Liz and Michelle, along with their unwavering commitment to prioritise both you and your clients, has been the real cherry on top.

For the last 20 years of my time working for a major Clearing Bank, I was a specialist Business Development Manager. I met many brokers seeking to introduce deals to me, and I saw a very wide range of ethics.

I met some very good people, but also brokers who considered themselves more important than their clients and several brokers who were downright dishonest. Ethics are very important to me and with that in mind I chose who I worked with then, and it is why I work for Key now. I had written transactions introduced by Tony at Key for around 14 years, and soon realised they are good to work with.

I had several opportunities put to me, but when I left mainstream banking it was always going to be Key who I chose to work for.

In 2016, after working for HSBC for over 36 years, I was offered a role as a self-employed Commercial Finance Consultant with Key. 

I’d worked for Tony at HSBC for a few years previously and it was clear that he’d built Key up, through some very challenging times, into a well-known and well-respected firm of commercial finance advisors. 

The firm had a solid reputation and lots of experience across the team but the key thing for me was that they have always had trust and integrity at the heart of the business, always ensuring that they did the right thing for the client.

These attributes have seen the business continue to grow and its great now when clients that I’ve helped in the past return with new projects for me to help with.
